OK, we had our rest.  Time to get break the winter lethargy and get moving again! Second Friday starts a little early at 6pm, Robert Sweetgall will present “The Motivation to Move – Five Great Physical Activities for Reducing Weight, Stress, Heart Disease & Diabetes Risk & Your Rate of Aging.” (part one – workshop 6:00 pm to 7:15 pm) and from 7:30 to 8:30, herbalist Darcy Williamson returns with “Winter Harvest - Medicinal Plants of the Powder River”  

The evening program will be followed by your choice of Saturday morning (9-10:30) physical activity - Robert Sweetgall will lead  “Nordic Walking 101 - Building Muscle, Burning Fat With the Ultimate Total-Body Walking Workout”  9 to 10:30 am, indoors at Crossroads Arts Center - or...

Darcy Williamson will lead “The River Foray – Discovering Medicinal Plants Along the Powder River” from 9 to 10:30 am start @ Carnegie

HOW TO WRITE THE WEIRD: The Hows, Whys and Ways of Valuable Estrangements -- Poetry Workshop

In this three-hour workshop, Phantom Drift poetry editor, Dr. Matt Schumacher, will reveal methods writers can use to valuably de-familiarize and otherwise add a wild side to their writing. Participants may find that sudden weirdnesses of self-expression more than liberating; such seeming digressions might ultimately better their work.

WGEO meetings are normally held on the second Saturday of every month from 1:15 - 3 pm at the Baker County Library in Baker City. Meetings are open to the public. Members share information, provide advice and assistance to other writers, and cooperate to promote and market local works of interest to the broader public.

Membership is free and open to anyone in eastern Oregon interested in literary arts. All genres are written here! The group provides literary events and discussion forums for the general public. For aspiring writers, the group provides constructive criticism, mentoring, editing, and public speaking experience. Published authors share experience, information, and practical help to teach others how to self-publish in a cost-effective, professional manner. For published members, the group also provides website hosting, advertising,cooperative book sales events, and business coaching.


WGEO has evolved into a loosely structured cooperative. While we no longer maintain the structure of elected officers, our volunteers will continue to provide assistance and services to local authors and the general community of eastern Oregon.
