September, 2011 - New format!!  We have had so many authors join us and they are so prolific in writing, that we have modified our website structure to separate and classify genres to make it easier to find the type of books you want.  Don't close your mind to other genres you normally don't read, though, or you may miss out.

A number of our local authors have been sneaking quietly around publishing new books without taking their due credit, including:

James E. Davis, M.D. with 2049, a science fiction novel about international terrorism in a world full of nuclear powers.

Lillian Cummings Densley and Aaron G. Densley, with Governor Joseph Gale and His Indian First Lady, a biographical history of Oregon's first governor.

Doug McKim & Prospero D'Aisling, with Are You Man Enough?, a fantasy-adventure tale set in a middle-age culture of wars of empire. 

David Memmott’s long narrative poem, “Where the Yellow Brick Road Turns West,” was selected as a finalist for the Western Writers of America’s Spur Award in the Western poem category. Memmott’s poem was published in his collection, Giving It Away, which as published in 2009 by Wordcraft of Oregon.

Dave Memmott published "Disciples of Paradox," a poem dedicated to Stephen Hawking, online with the Strange Horizons, a weekly, web-based magazine of speculative fiction.

Kerry Jones was featured in a front page article about Black Lyon Publishing in the Baker City Herald on January 14th.

New books by Clair Button (Coyote Staircase), Chuck Buchanan (Complications), and Roberta Marlow (The Copperfield Affair) were featured in a great review published in the January issue of Oregon Trail Ruralite magazine.

Debby Schoeningh, editor of The Record-Courier, received second place for "Best Local Column" in the annual Oregon Newspaper Publisher Association Better Newspaper Contest, awarded July 13 at the annual ONPA convention in Salem.

Schoeningh submitted three of her "Country Side" columns, which included "The Bleeping Bleep Bleep", "Food To Motivate, Exercise To Compensate", and "The Unsuspecting City Slicker."

Joe Knotts has a new children's mystery, The Mystery of the Small Tower available through Lulu.com as of July, 2007.

Glenda Carter and Vietnam War veteran Steve Nolley were featured in a June 18,2007 article in the Roseburg News-Review when Glenda visited Steve to discuss his war experience with Glenda's deceased husband, Bruce. It was another part of her continued journey of healing and evidence that every part of her struggle is still current and pertinent to thousands of people dealing with the emotional effects of war.

Member-Author Richard Mack has a new book out as of June 2007. Quail Song is a romantic fiction novel set in modern eastern Oregon. We will be adding information about this book to our site soon.
