An association of people with common aims and interests in literary arts

WGEO was formed in 2005 by a group of local authors and writers meeting in Baker City, Oregon.

Some of us had no idea there were so many published authors and active writers in our small city, but it wasn't long before we started hearing from others in the outlying areas too. What we heard from all of them was "We need to get together to share information and inspiration. We need to get the word out that all these talented people are here!"

It takes a lot of time and energy to organize a widely scattered pack of independent-minded folks. We are accomplishing that with a refreshing spirit of cooperation.

As of September 9, 2006, WGEO became a formal organization with adoption of bylaws and election of the officers and board of directors. The members also charged the new board of directors to seek to incorporate WGEO as a nonprofit 501(3)(c) organization. Thanks to all our members and associates.

WGEO is a volunteer, cooperative organization that exists to encourage writers' achievements in literary arts. We invite anybody living in eastern Oregon who is interested in writing and literary arts to apply for membership. There are no membership dues or fees.

What do you get by joining? Aside from free advice and the benefit of your fellow members' experience, we do some cooperative marketing and support. We share energy and creativity. We create opportunities for writers and authors to gain experience and audience.

Sometimes we share costs, pool our efforts for marketing, and find new ways for our authors to get their work out into the world and onto bookshelves.

This web site is privately owned and voluntarily maintained and operated for the benefit of our Writers Guild. Advertising for our member authors and their books is provided free of charge. Subdomains are available on this site for members who do not have their own web pages. We can also set up an email account for you at WGEO and allow you to access mail through the web or by forwarding to another email account. If you have a commercial site, we can provide links from here that can increase your advertising reach.

Contact  for information.

Let us know who you are and how to contact you.

Your application will be quickly forwarded to the board of directors and we will get back to you soon. Thanks!

Individual members may have businesses or provide fee services, but those are not the responsibility of, related to, or under the control of WGEO. We encourage people to help each other, provide advice, and share experience. We do not charge dues or fees. We are not presently a non-profit organization, and we do not accept donations or qualify for charity status. Membership has charged the board of directors to consider 501(3)(c) status. Please see our organization bylaws.
